Unorthodox Therapy Inc. Champions Judicial Leadership and Mental Health Equity in Philadelphia
Unorthodox Therapy Inc., a nonprofit rooted in healing, community action, and women's empowerment, proudly announces its support for the reelection of Philadelphia’s traditional judges in both the Court of Common Pleas and the Municipal Court. As a mental health and wellness organization serving women across all seasons of life, we recognize that justice and community well-being are inseparable.
In alignment with this election season, Unorthodox Therapy has joined forces with like-minded city leaders and campaigns that embody these shared values. One standout collaboration includes the Black Brain Campaign, co-founded by Farida E. Boyer, MS, LMFT, AS, and Jaynay C. Johnson, LMFT. This groundbreaking nonprofit is working to eliminate mental health stigma in the Black community and increase access to culturally competent care by training and supporting future Black therapists through its LEAP (Licensure Education Assistance Program) initiative.
“We don’t just want a seat at the table—we want to back candidates and movements that reflect the voices of the people we serve,” said Mony (Mo) Chan-McCarty, founder of Unorthodox Therapy. “Justice, mental health, and representation go hand in hand.”
Unorthodox Therapy also extends its support to Tanesha Henry, a new judicial candidate who brings integrity, leadership, and a deep commitment to community-based justice. Her candidacy is a powerful signal that the next generation of Philadelphia’s courts can better reflect the communities they serve.
In recent months, Unorthodox Therapy has continued to deepen its civic engagement by working with powerful women from the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement, a partnership that underscores our mission to uplift women in both public and private leadership roles.
By aligning with organizations and individuals dedicated to equity, mental health, and accessible justice, Unorthodox Therapy continues to bridge healing with action. This is more than visibility—it’s accountability.
