Unorthodox Therapy Honors Board Member and Public Safety Leader Awarded Heroes of Valor Recognition for Service to Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA — Unorthodox Therapy Inc. (UTInc.) proudly recognizes Daniel McCarty, husband of founder Monychann (Mo) McCarty and a board member of UTInc., for being awarded a Heroes of Valor Award by a national museum in recognition of his exceptional service and leadership in public safety.

This honor reflects years of dedication to protecting the City of Philadelphia during some of its most complex and high stakes moments. McCarty has played a critical role in large scale emergency planning and response, including spearheading coordinated efforts following a plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia, supporting citywide safety operations during major presidential visits, and leading planning processes during an active presidential race.

The recognition also highlights the broader commitment UTInc. holds to supporting first responders and public safety professionals across Pennsylvania. As a nonprofit rooted in mental health and community care, UTInc. maintains strong working relationships with the fire department, police department, and public safety partners at the city, state, and federal levels.

“Our work is built on partnership and trust,” shared Monychann (Mo) McCarty, founder of Unorthodox Therapy Inc. “We believe deeply in supporting the people who protect our communities every day. To see one of our own board members recognized at this level is both humbling and meaningful. It reinforces why mental health support for first responders and their families matters so much.”

McCarty’s leadership has been instrumental during moments that required calm, coordination, and foresight. His service reflects the quiet, consistent work that often happens behind the scenes to ensure public safety, even when the pressure is immense and the stakes are high.

For UTInc., honoring this achievement is about more than one award. It represents the organization’s commitment to standing with heroes across the Commonwealth who serve with integrity, courage, and responsibility. First responders and their families carry unique mental and emotional burdens, and UTInc. remains dedicated to ensuring they know support exists beyond the uniform.

As Unorthodox Therapy continues its work across Philadelphia and beyond, it remains proud to partner with public safety leaders and institutions that share a commitment to service, preparedness, and community well being.
