Unorthodox Therapy Founder to Speak at 2nd Annual Khmer Healing Summit, Advancing Global Conversations on Trauma, Identity, and Collective Healing
Philadelphia, PA — Unorthodox Therapy Inc. (UTInc.) proudly announces that its founder, Monychann (Mo) McCarty, will serve as a featured panelist at the 2nd Annual Khmer Healing Summit, a global virtual gathering dedicated to healing, reconnection, and transformation within the Cambodian community.
Taking place June 12 to 13, 2026, in partnership with the Cambodian American Resource Agency (CARA), the summit brings together Cambodian leaders, healers, creatives, and professionals from around the world to address the lasting impact of trauma, identity, and generational healing.
Centered on the theme “It Starts With Us,” the summit creates space for open dialogue around the Khmer Rouge genocide and its ongoing effects on first and second generation Cambodian survivors. Through storytelling, education, and shared experience, the event seeks to move beyond silence and into healing.
McCarty will join a powerful panel discussion titled “Beyond Shame, Survival, and Trauma, Toward Healing and Choice,” alongside fellow speakers Dany Srey Snow and Randy Kim. The conversation will explore the emotional and psychological realities faced by Cambodian communities and the pathways toward reclaiming identity, voice, and agency.
For McCarty, the opportunity is deeply personal. As the daughter of Cambodian parents and the founder of a nonprofit rooted in mental health and community healing, her presence on this panel represents the intersection of lived experience and professional purpose.
“This is more than a speaking engagement,” McCarty shared. “It is about honoring the stories that shaped us, the silence that many families have carried, and the healing that is still needed. Being part of this summit allows us to speak truthfully about trauma while also creating space for restoration.”
The Khmer Healing Summit features a dynamic lineup of global voices, including clinicians, storytellers, artists, and community leaders. Sessions will include meditation, intergenerational healing discussions, workshops on emotional resilience, and conversations centered on reclaiming identity and breaking generational cycles.
The summit reflects a growing movement within the Cambodian diaspora to confront historical trauma with honesty while building pathways for healing that are culturally grounded and community led.
For Unorthodox Therapy, participation in this global event reinforces its commitment to expanding mental health conversations beyond traditional settings and into cultural spaces where healing is often most needed.
UTInc. continues to advocate for accessible, community driven mental health support, particularly for communities navigating generational trauma, identity, and cultural expectations.
The Khmer Healing Summit stands as a powerful reminder that healing is not an individual journey alone. It is collective, intergenerational, and ongoing.
