Unorthodox Therapy Founder Completes Certified Peer Specialist Training in Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, PA – After a brief pause from social media and website updates, Unorthodox Therapy is thrilled to share what we’ve been up to! Over the past 10 days, our founder, Monychann (Mo) McCarty, participated in Pennsylvania’s Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) training, joining a cohort of 30 individuals with lived mental health experiences.
The CPS program, recognized statewide, equips participants with the tools to provide peer-based mental health support rooted in empathy and understanding. This training highlights the importance of connecting with those who have walked similar paths, offering a unique and transformative form of healing.
“Taking time to immerse myself in the CPS training was a profoundly rewarding experience,” shared McCarty. “This opportunity allowed me to connect with so many inspiring individuals and reaffirmed the power of lived experiences in creating meaningful mental health support.”
At Unorthodox Therapy, we believe that healing is a deeply personal journey. Programs like CPS amplify the voices of those who have navigated mental health challenges, creating safe and authentic spaces for others to heal. This milestone further reflects the organization’s commitment to holistic approaches and innovative mental health practices.
“We’ve been quiet on social media because we’ve been focusing on growth, learning, and deepening our impact,” McCarty added. “Now, we’re excited to share this next chapter with our community and to bring these lessons into everything we do.”
As Unorthodox Therapy continues to expand its mission, this training marks an essential step in ensuring that lived experiences remain a cornerstone of the organization’s approach to mental health.
