Unorthodox Therapy Brings Energy and Empowerment to a Full House at Women’s Engagement Tour in District 8
Philadelphia, PA — The Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement Tour brought its citywide initiative to District 8, and the response was overwhelming. A full house of women, community members, and leaders filled the space to hear from Monychann (Mo) McCarty, founder of Unorthodox Therapy Inc. (UTInc.), whose dynamic presentation left the audience encouraged, inspired, and equipped with free tools to strengthen their mental health.
The tour, which aims to elevate women’s voices and amplify access to wellness resources across Philadelphia, has been a catalyst for important conversations in every district. District 8 stood out not only for its strong attendance but also for the energy in the room. From the moment McCarty began speaking, it was clear the community had shown up hungry for connection, strategies, and solutions.
McCarty’s talk focused on the realities women face today: balancing family, work, finances, and personal health, often while carrying the weight of unspoken struggles. She shared free, practical tools with attendees, ensuring every guest walked away with something tangible they could put into practice immediately. Whether it was stress release practices, grounding techniques, or ways to seek community support, the resources provided made mental health feel both accessible and actionable.
“Every woman in this room walked in carrying something heavy,” McCarty said. “We cannot always control what life throws at us, but we can equip ourselves with the tools and community we need to rise above it. My goal is to make sure that no one leaves empty-handed when it comes to their mental health.”
The atmosphere during the District 8 stop was electric. Guests not only listened but also engaged, asked questions, and connected with one another. Laughter, tears, and moments of quiet reflection all had a place in the room, underscoring the belief that healing is not a one-size-fits-all journey but a shared human experience.
The full house turnout reflected the pressing need for conversations like these. With rising costs, ongoing community stressors, and the demand of everyday life, many women expressed gratitude for the chance to pause, learn, and take home resources that addressed both their inner lives and their external challenges.
For Unorthodox Therapy, District 8 was a chance to show what it looks like when civic engagement meets grassroots healing. As an organization, UTInc. has made it its mission to be the first line of support for women’s mental health in Philadelphia, bridging the gap between community needs and practical tools.
The Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement Tour continues to highlight the importance of health, wellness, and equity across Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. With stops in every council district, it represents a powerful collaboration between city leadership, nonprofits, and the women who make Philadelphia strong.
UTInc. is proud to continue its role in this movement, making sure that mental health is not an afterthought but the heartbeat of community conversations.
