Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement Celebrates Women Led Nonprofits Driving Real Impact Across Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA — The Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement hosted a powerful celebration honoring women led nonprofits who are doing critical, boots-on-the-ground work throughout Philadelphia. The event, attended by Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, recognized organizations and leaders who are filling gaps, building trust, and serving communities in ways that government alone cannot.

The celebration highlighted the essential role nonprofits play in supporting neighborhoods, families, and individuals through direct service, advocacy, and community centered solutions. These organizations often operate closest to the people, responding quickly to needs, building relationships, and addressing challenges with care and cultural understanding.

A key focus of the event was honoring the women who facilitated the fall training cohort, whose leadership, commitment, and expertise helped strengthen community capacity across the city. These facilitators guided participants through learning, growth, and collaboration, ensuring that the work continues well beyond the classroom.

“Nonprofits are the heartbeat of our communities,” shared Monychann (Mo) McCarty, founder of Unorthodox Therapy Inc. “We are often doing the work that systems cannot reach quickly enough. To be seen, celebrated, and supported by the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement affirms the value of grassroots leadership and women driven impact.”

The presence of Mayor Parker underscored the administration’s recognition of nonprofit leaders as essential partners in the city’s progress. The celebration served as a reminder that when government and nonprofits work together, communities are better supported and long term change becomes possible.

For Unorthodox Therapy Inc. (UTInc.), participating in this celebration reinforced its mission to support women, prioritize mental health, and remain deeply rooted in community engagement. As a nonprofit committed to accessible healing and connection, UTInc. continues to stand alongside organizations that lead with integrity, compassion, and action.

The Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement remains committed to uplifting women leaders and nonprofits who are creating meaningful impact across Philadelphia. The celebration honored not just accomplishments, but the ongoing dedication required to serve communities every day.
