Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement and Cast of The Vagina Monologues Celebrate Sold Out Show with Community Art Experience in Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA — Following the success of the sold out performance of The Vagina Monologues at the Venice Performing Arts Center, the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement hosted a celebratory community art event that brought the cast and supporters together for an evening of painting, candle making, and sisterhood.
Held in the heart of Philadelphia at a local women-owned business, the celebration honored the power of storytelling, creativity, and collaboration. Attendees gathered to reflect on the show’s impact while supporting a female entrepreneur whose studio provided the perfect environment for connection and artistry.
The evening featured guided painting activities and custom candle making, allowing participants to create commemorative pieces symbolizing the resilience, unity, and strength that carried the production from rehearsals to a sold out stage. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, color, conversation, and collective pride as women poured into one another and celebrated the success of the show.
For Unorthodox Therapy Inc. (UTInc.), participating in this event aligned seamlessly with its mission. The organization believes healing can take many forms and that joy, creativity, and community are essential parts of mental wellness.
“After such a powerful production, it felt important to pause and celebrate what we created together,” shared Monychann (Mo) McCarty, founder of UTInc. “Painting, candle making, and supporting a local business reminded us that healing is not always clinical. Sometimes it looks like community, art, and honoring the work we poured into something meaningful. This is why we are unorthodox by design.”
The celebration captured what the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement aims to build throughout the city: spaces where women can lead, collaborate, celebrate, and heal together. The event blended creativity with community care and reaffirmed the importance of supporting local women-owned businesses as part of Philadelphia’s culture of empowerment.
For UTInc., the gathering was a reminder that mental health support expands far beyond traditional settings. Shared experiences, creative expression, and celebration are powerful tools that help women reconnect with themselves and each other.
