Unorthodox Therapy Champions Latino Leadership and Community Empowerment at Fishtown Networking Event
Philadelphia, PA – February 2025 – Unorthodox Therapy, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and supporting marginalized communities, proudly co-hosted a distinguished networking event at Mural City Cellars in Fishtown. This gathering celebrated Latino leadership and fostered connections among community leaders, business owners, and advocates committed to driving positive change in Philadelphia.
The event was held at Mural City Cellars, a local winery in Fishtown owned by a Latina entrepreneur, symbolizing the vibrant and diverse spirit of Philadelphia's Latino community. The evening brought together a dynamic group of individuals, including CEOs, nonprofit founders, and esteemed community fellows, all united by a shared vision of collaboration and empowerment.
Highlighting Community Pillars
Among the notable attendees was Christina Vega, founder and president of Love Shouldn't Hurt Philly, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence. Inspired by personal experience and a tragic incident involving a friend, Vega established the organization in 2018 to provide crisis management, advocacy, and educational services to those affected by domestic violence. Her unwavering commitment has made a profound impact on countless lives in and around Philadelphia.
The event also honored Deputy Chief Peter "Pete" Crespo, the first Latino to hold this esteemed position in the Philadelphia Fire Department. A North Philadelphia native, Crespo's journey to leadership is a testament to perseverance and dedication. His promotion not only represents a personal achievement but also serves as an inspiration to the Latino community and beyond.
A Commitment to Community Support
Unorthodox Therapy's involvement in this event underscores its mission to support and uplift communities by fostering connections among like-minded individuals and organizations. By collaborating with leaders like Vega and Crespo, Unorthodox Therapy continues to advocate for initiatives that promote safety, empowerment, and positive change for all Philadelphians.
