Unorthodox Therapy Attends City Budget Meeting to Champion Grassroots Healing Across Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA – As a grassroots nonprofit with deep love for the city we serve, Unorthodox Therapy was honored to participate in Philadelphia’s recent city budget meeting. These spaces matter—not just for policy, but for presence. For small but mighty organizations like ours, every invitation to the table reminds us that our voice, our mission, and our people are being seen.
Founded to bridge the gap between women seeking healing and the support systems that feel out of reach, Unorthodox Therapy has been doing the heart work—often with limited grants, minimal staff, and a rotating circle of passionate volunteers. And yet, we show up. In barbershops and school auditoriums. On front porches and in mental health support circles. We are on the ground, boots-first, one council district at a time.
Being invited into city budget conversations reinforces our belief that healing must be prioritized at every level of leadership. These meetings not only offer clarity on where resources flow—they also allow us to connect with decision-makers, put a face to our name, and most importantly, remind our civic leaders that we are here, ready to do the work.
We don’t take these opportunities lightly. In a city as rich in culture as it is in challenges, Unorthodox Therapy remains committed to healing Philadelphia—one woman, one family, and one neighborhood at a time. Inclusion in these conversations brings us one step closer to building a future where healing is accessible, visible, and community-rooted.
