How One West Philadelphia Business Is Creating Space for Women to Gather, Create, and Connect
Philadelphia, PA — Sometimes healing doesn't begin in a therapist's office. Sometimes it begins around a table covered in fresh flowers, surrounded by women you've never met, only to leave feeling like you've known them for years.
That is exactly the experience Rashawn Scarbro, founder of Bloom Bold Co., has intentionally cultivated in West Philadelphia.
More than a floral studio, Bloom Bold Co. has become a gathering place where creativity, conversation, faith, and community naturally come together. Through hands-on workshops, private events, and thoughtfully curated experiences, Scarbro has created an environment where women are invited to slow down, create something beautiful, and connect with one another in meaningful ways.
Recently, members of UTInc. had the opportunity to participate in one of Bloom Bold Co.'s signature bouquet workshops. While learning the art of arranging seasonal flowers, the afternoon quickly became about something much deeper than floral design. Women shared stories, encouraged one another, and built new relationships rooted in a shared desire for authentic community.
"As an organization, we're always looking for places where women naturally find connection," said Monychann (Mo) McCarty, founder and Executive Director of Unorthodox Therapy Inc. "Bloom Bold Co. isn't simply teaching floral design. Rashawn is creating an atmosphere where women feel seen, welcomed, and encouraged. Those moments matter more than people often realize."
Experiences like these reinforce a belief that has guided UTInc. since its founding: healing can happen in everyday spaces. A workshop. A conversation. A shared meal. A creative project. When women gather with intention, community becomes part of the healing process.
