Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement Event

Philadelphia, PA – In a significant celebration of women making strides across the city, Mony McCarty, founder of Unorthodox Therapy, was selected to attend the Mayor’s Office of Women’s Engagement event in May 2024. This prestigious event recognized 27 women, with 17 of them selected by council members for their commitment to creating positive change in Philadelphia.

The gathering honored the commissioners and committee members appointed by the mayor, shining a spotlight on their contributions to the city's future. As a representative of Unorthodox Therapy, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women’s mental health and local women-owned businesses, Mony felt deeply honored to be acknowledged for her role in shaping new opportunities for women across various communities.

Mony McCarty expressed her pride in standing among such trailblazing women and the city's first-ever woman mayor. "Being part of this beautiful engagement and witnessing the progressive steps being taken in Philadelphia is both humbling and empowering. It’s a moment to reflect on the small stepping stones we've built together and to look forward to paving the way for future generations of women leaders," said McCarty.

Unorthodox Therapy remains committed to supporting the empowerment and growth of women throughout Philadelphia, especially as the city embraces a vision of a cleaner, greener, and safer future under the leadership of the 100th mayor, the first woman elected to this role. The nonprofit is dedicated to fostering unity and strength within local communities and creating spaces for women to thrive through collaboration and mental health support.
